the leprechauns haven’t eaten me yet!

Hey again everyone.

This is what you might call a public service announcement. I’ve arrived in Ireland … in fact, I did that two days ago, and I am starting work tomorrow morning. I apologize for not having written a blog entry sooner, but I have barely had a chance to sit still since coming here. I am extremely happy with everything so far, and my good friends have been fantastic, helping me feel right at home here. I’m looking forward to making the most of this, in every way imaginable.

Yesterday, I visited the area of Dublin called Ranalagh, and today we might drop by Dun Laoghaire (pronounced Dun Leery). Both are nice areas of the city, where there are plenty of apartments to let. That’s the thing about Dublin. You have to know what parts to avoid and what parts to stay in but I suppose, that’s the way it is with most large cities. I’ve never seen myself as a large city person, so living in a place like Ranalagh which literally feels like your average village, but with a five to seven minute luas-ride (the luas is the local tram-system) to the city centre, would suit me incredibly well. Considering that this is a national capital, it’s fortunately possible to find a one bedroom apartment at a reasonable price. As I’ve pointed out to myself and my friends several times, finding something in Copenhagen of an equal size would cost at least twice, probably more like three times what it costs here. Hell, if I didn’t mind the commute, I could probably find something quite affordable down in Bray, where all the big starts have summer residences because of the view over the Irish sea. Here’s me, hobnobbin’ with Bono … *click* *post on facebook*

Not bloody likely, obviously. And I’d prefer to find a place inside Dublin city limits, preferably in the southern part of the city to stay close to work. I’ve had it with two hour transportation to and from work.

Anyway, it’s time for some breakfast, so … I’ll be off again for now. But I’ll be updating again when I’ve started training at the job, to let you all know how it goes.

Oh, and we’re planning on watching England play Ireland in the Rugby League six nations tournament on the 19th if we can get tickets. That would be a spectacular experience!!

I’m going to make this place my home. And it will work out perfectly!
