More Irish news

I promised an update to my situation here in Ireland, and what better day to post it than on St. Patrick’s Day?

Last night, I spent some of my last money with Emil from Nibe, who is here in Dublin with his class. It was good seeing him again, even if it hasn’t been that long. It may be a year before I see anyone in Denmark again, unless they are the ones to come here to visit me.

So far, the job is going well. The training was postponed by a week, so I only started it this past monday. That’s not a bad thing, though, since I got a week “on the floor” where some of the other agents showed me the basics. It is a huge advantage knowing at least a FEW things about the software I’m going to be working with, when the training starts. Apart from me, another Dane and two Frenchmen are taking the training course, and we get along very well indeed.

Moreover, I’ve found a place to live. I’ll be moving in with a lady a couple of stairwells away from where I’m staying now. Her name is Caroline, and she owns a nice apartment with two bedrooms. I’ve visited her place and it’s really, really nice. Very comfy and, for those of you who understands Danish, it’s “hyggelig”. And Caroline herself is a VERY nice woman. First time we met, we ended up sharing a bottle of white wine, then half a bottle of red, then a beer. And while we both had to go out that evening to meet friends, none of us wanted to go. We were having too much fun :)

Everything is coming along as it should. I got my PPS number … social security that is … yesterday, so now I’m officially a resident of Ireland.

I’ve been here two weeks, and it’s home. I can’t describe how easy it was to get Nibe out of my system. I’ll always have my friends from back there, but the place itself? No way …

I’ll write more as things progress, of course. Probably by the end of next week, when training is completed :)
