The times they are a’changin’ …

Blog |

I’ve never been much of a Bob Dylan-fan, but “The times they are a’changin’” strikes a cord with me, every time I hear it. And I have to admit, he writes some fantastic lyrics overall.

But this isn’t about Bob Dylan, music or lyrics. This is just to let you all know that this will be my last blog-post written from Denmark. No one can predict the future, and I don’t know if I’ll return down the line. Maybe, maybe not. The plan is to make this move a permanent one, if not to Ireland, then at least out of the country. And then, why not make a new home and a new life on the Emerald Isle?

Today, friends will drop by to help me move more of my stuff into storage. By the end of the day, hopefully I will only need to move my bed, one chair, one small table and maybe one box of stuff. Everything else will be gone from the apartment. Looking through these nearly empty rooms is a strange experience. I’ve lived here for 12 years. It’s THE place I’ve lived the longest. This house, if not this apartment (I’ve lived in two apartments in the same house). Making a change this big is going to be … an adventure. This is my “road trip”. As Erica always reminds me, “Life is a series of transitions”. I guess I picked the right title for my stories.

Friday, my friends here in Nibe threw me a surprise “going-away” party. I was so choked up I had to struggle not to start crying right then and there. I honestly hadn’t seen it coming, and it was a great chance to see them all one more time before heading off. I have good friends here. The best you could wish for. And as I told one of them “I will miss all of you … I just won’t miss Nibe”. She understood what I meant.

It’s time to try something new. Having a whole life. WITH a job. A real one … one which counts. I’m looking forward to this. It won’t always be easy, but … it’s the right thing to do, for me.

Story-wise, I promised Bastion I’d send him some chapters this upcoming week, before leaving, so even if it takes a while for me to settle in and get set up in Ireland, you’ll still get your bi-weekly chapter. For the time being, that means “Test of Time”-chapters. I hope you all enjoy them.

And thank you … all of you … for all the support and kindness you’ve shown me so far.

I’ll see you on the green side.

And hey, St. Paddy’s day is on the 17th of March this year. I’ll actually get to experience it in Dublin. Imagine that.
