New look, mostly the same contents

Blog |

Well folks, as you can see, there’s a new look to the site. Fikrann contacted me yesterday and asked if it wasn’t about high time that we made the site a little snazzier to look at, and I agreed wholeheartedly.

As an added bonus, the gallery works again. Still not much in there but I’m always open for fan-art :D If someone should decide to make something, I’ll make sure it’s posted.

That said, I think a bit of an update on my personal life is overdue. I’ve now been without a job for a couple of weeks and while I needed some vacation-time very badly (I didn’t take time off over the summer for instance and so far, my only vacation this year was back around Easter), I’m also starting to feel a bad urge to get something to do. I’m sending off job-applications so we’ll just have to see how that goes.

Apart from that … well, plenty of things going on, I suppose. My writing has taken a major slump after stopping at the museum but I’m slooooooowly getting back into it. I actually expected it to happen. I had gotten into the habit of writing on the train going to and frmo work, and now that I don’t have that scheduled “writing-time” set aside every day, it means I have to restructure my day sorta. I’m pretty sure I’ll figure it out. I’m working on a surprise but until the video-greeting gets posted, I’m not going to tell you what it is. Neener, you’re just going to have to live without it. So there.

Thbbhthtthbbthh …

Other than that, I’m doing moderately okay. I’ve taken up walking to work out a little. I can’t abide running … you pass everything by too fast and there’s no time to stop and smell the roses, so to say. Besides, your ears are full of the sound of your own heartbeat, you can taste blood and your throat feels raw. When you get home, you feel great … for about thirty minutes and then your legs start to cramp. If you stretch out properly, that won’t happen until the next morning when you try to get out of bed and realize that your body has gone on strike.

Running is not for me. Never was, never will be. Even when I was a teenager and trained to the peak of my ability, I didn’t like running. I like riding a bike, but at the moment, I don’t have one. Instead, I’m walking.

I started out with a six kilometer a day route. It’s now up to ten. I walked home from Aalborg a couple of weeks ago on what was probably the last day where that was feasible and pleasant (I’ll repeat the stunt in the fall when the temperature starts to rise again). That’s a trip of 23 kilometers. Suffice to say my legs didn’t like me much the last four kilometers or so, but I got there and it was a great personal victory.

Mind you, I walked that trip only 24 days after I started training in the first place. Some might say it was nuts but I enjoyed it.

It feels good to get some miles in my legs again, to be honest. I’m in better shape than I’ve been for many years … so now it’s just a matter of losing a bit of weight as well but that’ll come naturally now that I exercise.

I’ve lost a lot already. Good thing too … inertia was getting the better of me.

Anyway, I’m off for now. I’ve got a long and busy day ahead of me, and I still have to get my daily 10 kilometers done too ;)
